Marine Engine Service — NH Race Engine (Preview)
Workshop Service — Kessel, NL

Marine Engine Service

Outboards, sterndrives and inboards — serviced, repaired and run-in tested in our 3,000-litre freshwater tank before your season starts, not during it.

What We Service

All major brands — Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Evinrude, Nissan and more. Freshwater and saltwater boats alike.

🛥️

Outboard Service

Annual services, 100-hour services and fault repair for 2- and 4-stroke outboards — oil, filters, plugs, impeller, gearcase, the lot.

⚙️

Sterndrive & Inboard

MerCruiser and inboard service: drive oil, bellows, gimbal bearing, alignment, cooling systems and winter lay-up.

🌊

Test Tank Verification

Every serviced outboard runs in our 3,000 L freshwater tank: cooling, shifting, charging and full-throttle checks before handover.

❄️

Winterization

Fogging, fuel stabilizing, cooling-system drain-down, gearcase service and battery care — done in autumn, enjoyed in spring.

🔧

Repairs & Overhauls

Powerhead rebuilds, lower-unit overhauls, water pumps, carb/EFI service — with the same measured, documented approach as our car engines.

🔀

Repower & Installation

Swapping to a new outboard? Rigging, controls, steering, propeller matching and tank-tested handover. See our outboard range.

Why the Test Tank Matters

Most marine shops hand your engine back untested — you find the problem on the water, with your family aboard. We don't work that way:

  • Every serviced outboard runs — cooling flow, idle quality, shifting, charging voltage
  • Full-throttle load test — verifies fuel delivery and cooling under real load
  • Lower-unit pressure test — proves seals before they cost you a gearcase
  • Propeller check — condition, pitch match and fishing-line inspection
  • Written test report — readings recorded, handed over with the engine
  • New engines too — every outboard we sell is tank-tested before dispatch

The Two Dates That Save Your Engine

Marine engines fail from neglect between seasons more than from use. Put both services on the calendar:

  • 🍂 Autumn — Winterization: fog cylinders, stabilize fuel, drain cooling, service gearcase, remove battery
  • 🍂 Autumn — Anodes & corrosion check: replace sacrificial anodes before they disappear entirely
  • 🍂 Autumn — Prop off: check the shaft for fishing line; grease splines
  • 🌱 Spring — De-winterize & test: fresh plugs, fuel system check, impeller inspection, tank run
  • 🌱 Spring — Safety gear: kill switch, controls, steering and cables checked and lubricated
  • 🌱 Spring — Trailer lights & winch: because the engine isn't what strands you at the ramp

Common Questions

Every 100 running hours or once a year — whichever comes first. If you run in salt water, impellers and anodes deserve a look more often. The hour meter doesn't lie, and neither does a gearcase oil check: milky oil means water inside, and that waits for no one.

Yes — one hard frost with raw water in the block or gearcase cracks castings, and that's a new engine, not a repair. Dutch winters are mild until they aren't. Winterization takes an afternoon; a cracked block takes a chequebook.

Stop running it now — the tell-tale is the cooling system's only voice. It's often just a clogged tell-tale nozzle or a tired impeller (a €165-ish fix), but running it hot "to see" turns that into warped heads. Bring it in; we'll tank-test it and show you the flow.

Yes — prop pitch decides whether your engine lives in its happy rpm range. We calculate from your hull, weight and engine data (our prop calculator gives you the theory), then verify on the tank. Wrong pitch is the most common cause of "my boat feels slow" and "my engine runs hot".

Of course — most of the engines we service were bought elsewhere. All brands welcome. Engines bought from us get priority booking and their service history on file from day one, but the spanners don't care where the receipt came from.

Book Before the Season Does

Spring slots fill fast — every boat in Limburg wakes up the same week. Book your service or winterization now and start the season on the water, not on the phone.
